When we sin in thought, word and deed, does it diminish the power of our prayers and our acts of goodness?
When we sin, it definitely reduces the power of our holiness. And, this could be a trap where the devil steps in and increases his power i.e. the power of evil by justifying our sins and urging us to go on as though we have not really done such a great wrong or sin. This sits well with our feeling ok with ourselves.
The devil is the master of all lies. He is always feeding us lies to draw us away from regaining our lost holiness. Here, he replaces holiness with his power of evil/deceit/pretense/hypocrisy by subtly satisfying our pride or ego and thus our standing in public at large. He caters to our need to feel well, even when we have sinned. This is exactly what he is doing himself.
We are created in God’s own image with the fullness of His love. In a way we can say, the devil is trying his best to convert us into becoming his pawns by every means possible to make us similar unto himself i.e. that which was made in God’s image the devil wants to change into his image.
This is why Jesus taught us to repent–not once but repentance should flow in your blood and become a part of your nature. Then the devil cannot mislead you. He himself has not repented or even accepted the responsibility of the sin he has committed. This is what he wants all of us to become.
To conclude, we can say: we are created in God’s own image with the fullness of His love; the devil is trying his best to convert us into becoming his pawns. When we fight temptation, our Lord Jesus Christ who knows the hearts and minds of man makes us beautiful instruments of His Will, wherever we are in this world.
Through goodness in our thoughts, words and deeds, our lives edify the Lord Jesus Christ and increase the power of our prayers and our acts of goodness. So, let us remember always, we are created in God’s own image with the fullness of His Love.
Praise God!!!
