Human Nature and the Spirit

In the third post of the ‘Born Again in the Spirit’ series, Brother Ajit Leons speaks on the nature of those born again in Spirit or what their lives should be like:

John 3.8: The wind blows wherever it wishes; you hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. It is like that with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (E.g. Acts 8.31, 34-40)

Mathew 3.8 (Luke 3.8):Do those things that will show that you have turned from your sins.

Our minds can be controlled by our human nature/emotion or the Spirit. Temptations are part and parcel of this world and they exist outside of us (Mathew 18.7, 8-9); but when a person falls into a temptation sin is born within him/her (Mathew 15.11, 17-20). A person falls into sin when he is controlled by his human nature, but he will be able to overcome temptation when he is controlled by the Spirit; as revealed under.

Romans 8.4-8, 9-10, 13-16 (Life in the Spirit):  Those who live as their human nature wants have their minds controlled by what human nature wants. Those who live as the Spirit tells them to, have their minds controlled by what the Spirit wants. To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace.  …a person becomes an enemy of God when he is controlled by his human nature; for he does not obey God’s law…Those who obey their human nature cannot please God. …live as the Spirit tells you to…But if Christ lives in you, the Spirit is life for you …even though your bodies are going to die because of sin. …if you live according to your human nature, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death your sinful actions, you will live.…instead, the Spirit makes you God’s children, and by the Spirit’s power we cry out to God, “Father! my Father!”…

Galatians 5.16-17, 24-25: …let the Spirit direct your lives…For what our human nature wants is opposed to what the Spirit wants…These two are enemies…And those who belong to Christ Jesus have put to death their human nature with all its passions and desires. The Spirit has given us life; he must also control our lives.

(Galatians 5.19-21: Human Nature shows itself in: immorality, filthy and indecent actions, worship of idols and witchcraft, enemity and fights; jealousy, anger, ambitious, separate into parties and groups; envious, get drunk, have orgies, and do other things like these. Colossians 3.5-9: Also, sexual immorality, lust, evil passions, greed [which is a form of idolatry], hateful feelings, insults or obscene talk, lies, and so on.

Galatians 5.22-23, 26: The Spirit produces: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, self-control, will not be proud [humble], will not irritate each other or be jealous of one anotherColossians 3.12-14: Also, compassion, gentleness, patience, tolerance, forgiveness, and above all love).
